Cheeky Aussie Group Rancid Eddie Drop Blunt Foot Stomper "Dry"

You'll most likely find Australia's five-piece group Rancid Eddie writing some tunes over a heap of beer cans mixed with some vibrant guitar riffs. Known for their breakout viral videos on TikTok, and their sing-a-long, indie-rock tunes touching on everyday life, the band is back with a bold, foot-tapping single "Dry."

When something loses its spark it can be hard to relight the flames that once burned brightly. Touching on the narrative of a relationship losing its spark inspired by their "abysmal love lives," the brazen, blunt single is a woozy, gritty release, reminiscent of The Strokes or fellow Aussie rock favorites Sticky Fingers.

"Dry" is a feel-good track that feels great belted out loud. In a classic Rancid Eddie session, they share that the song came about over, "A couple guitars and five blokes kickin' back around a table of empty stubbies, and the good old no sleep demons. The song is about realising a relationship is over before it is, and the pains of falling out of love with someone."

Sonically, the single sweeps in with a misty cloud of hazy guitar chords and impassioned vocals dripping in a restrained, Aussie accent. With a hit to the drums, the track explodes into a crash of falling guitar chords and a flood of backing vocals, giving the whole affair the feeling of being surrounded by the whole band.

From clapping, whistling, the slapping of chairs and foot-stomping, you could easily close your eyes and be in a pub drinking and singing the heartbreak away. “Dry" is easy listening, witty, blunt, cheeky, and most definitely moreish. It's hard not to enjoy the energy from the five lads living their best life when it's backed by big kick drums and magical indie riffs.
