The Trusted Offer up a Track of Reflection and Contemplation in "Criminals"

UK indie rock band The Trusted offer up a new video just in time for Christmas. Unveiling the video for their new single "Criminals," it's the perfect accompaniment for one of their most moving songs yet.

The song carries hints of The 1975 and Coldplay, featuring lead singer Tom Cunningham's charming vocals and the band’s youthful energy, adding an innocence to their sound, while maintaining a musical maturity through their impressive musicianship. The Trusted share, "Criminals is a song about loss, heartbreak, guilt and self-absorption. It's a song about losing someone and blaming yourself for everything. There were several 'personal' things going on at the time that definitely had an effect on the writing process of this track, and I think it shows. I don't know if we could have written this song, if what happened at time didn’t happen. It's a sad and honest track, but at the same, it's kind of beautifully uplifting. In simple terms, it's a 'breakup' song."

Delicate guitars, soft drums and twinkling piano create the makeup of this heartfelt anthem. All delivered with a relaxed attitude and pensive introspection, "Criminals" offers a place for listeners to indulge in their dreamy soundscapes. Despite covering heavier topics, the band somehow seem to present them in a lighthearted, breezy way, allowing you to lose yourself in the music, rather than be riddled with anxiety from the darker themes.

The new animated music video features vivid imagery and cartoon characters of the band members. These tattoo-style drawings intertwine with clips of the band, creating an almost hypnotic effect. The four-piece band seems to prevail in everything they do so far, and we can't wait to see what 2021 holds for them.
