Bestfriend's "LEMON LIME" Is the Easygoing Soundtrack to Your Burnout

Canadian alt-pop duo Bestfriend is doling out the good vibes and existentialism with the release of their latest single, "LEMON LIME." The pair, made up of Vancouver-based Stacy Kim (lead vocals and guitar) and Toronto-based Kaelan Geoffrey (synthesizers and vocals), explore the waywardness one can feel in an uncertain world with witty lyricism and stellar sonics that leave listeners wanting more.

"LEMON LIME" opens with Kim's enticing and commanding vocals floating on top of Kaelan's swirling, magnetic synths. After Kim takes a huge gasp of air, we're launched into a world full of summery, head-bob-inducing instrumentals that juxtapose vulnerable and engaging lyrics. "I wanna die but only for a year / At least until the smoke clears," she sings, oozing relevance amongst a generation of people trying to find their way in a seemingly chaotic and, dare I say it, sour world.

Speaking further on the track, Bestfriend shares, "'LEMON LIME' is about struggling in a world that feels like it wasn't built for you and not being able to do anything about it while constantly being told that everything is fine," shared the band. "It's a song for people who are tired of how things are while being too tired to change it—but everyone says it's fine, so just go do your silly little tasks every day!"

Bestfriend is gearing up for the release of their highly anticipated sophomore EP, which is set to drop in Spring 2023. Until then, the duo continues to create raw and unreserved music complemented with coruscating sonic textures and piercing lyrics relating to nostalgia, adulthood, and the never-ending battle and pressure of getting your shit together.
