FARR Release Vibrant 'Blink Twice If You're Okay' EP

Electro-soul duo FARR, comprised of LA-based vocalist Roméo and London-based producer Linden Jay, have solidified their place in the current sonic landscape with the release of their new EP Blink Twice If You're Okay. The five-track body of work, with its hypnotic, sexy, groovy, and resounding sound, is a masterfully cohesive project. It's jam-packed with memorable, soulful moments that entertain and aim to leave deep, lasting connections.

Roméo croons in dazzling falsetto on the project's opening track "Answers," a mid-tempo, breezy effort that sets the tone for this stellar EP. With its blend of 1970s soul and modern sonic textures, the track is infused with a vibrant psychedelic quality that evokes a sense of nostalgia. Roméo's soulful vocals and thoughtful lyrics like, "You can be the answer, to the questions in my head," hit listeners right in the feels as classic, clean harmonies float towards a bold crescendo buoyed by a brass section.

Other notable tracks include the mellow love song "Make It To Summer" and the swanky, funk-infused "In Need Of A Friend," but the standout of the record is the ethereal "Doom Gloom." "Doom Gloom" is a beautiful, lavish track that skillfully captures the experience of feeling magnetically drawn to a chaotic relationship that has lingered in the grey area for too long. It's a jewel with an effortless groove, a relentless hi-hat rhythm, and guitar licks that exude a haunting quality, making it hard to resist replaying. Its quick, buzzing bassline and ethereal vocals pull gracefully at our heartstrings and poetically detail the tumultuous nature of strained intimacy.

The EP's surprisingly gritty closing track "Restless Child" is a thought-provoking finale that opens with a moving spoken word that unfolds like a confessional. The song is a touching reminder to slow down, go with the flow, and embrace the uncertainty of where life can take you. FARR takes off their emotional masks and explores themes of youthful fear and depression. But in classic FARR style, positivity and appreciation of the divine are never too far away.
