Hazlett Announces Upcoming Album Alongside New Single “tell me something”

Sweden-based, Australian-born singer-songwriter Hazlett is making a name for himself through his candid, unguarded lyrics and thoughtful melodies. In his latest release, “tell me something,” Hazlett looks back at a fulfilling relationship, and what happened once that relationship came to an end.

The song opens with steady drums that gently thump throughout the song. Distorted guitars join the mix before Hazlett’s strong and steady vocals come in. The chorus also features drums and distorted guitars, but more intensely than the verse, highlighting the emotion in the lyrics. Hazlett’s pain from the relationship’s end is put on full display as he sings “So won’t you tell me something / Something I won’t believe / Heaven knows I need nothing / I heard nothing won’t leave / But I want it back / I want it bad / And I want it back / I want it bad.”

Speaking on the song Hazlett shared, "If you’re lucky enough to find someone to throw your whole self into, nobody warns you about the untangling that happens if it ends. The daily things you leaned on them for are no longer around and it feels like the pillow’s missing from under your head. There comes a time when I think holding on isn’t doing anyone any favors. That doesn’t mean those feelings need to turn into anger or disdain, but you might have to swallow that bitter pill that what once was might never be again—and that’s okay. Keep the fond memories, keep the good times, but turn the engine over and see where the road trip to moving on takes you."

Alongside the single’s release comes the announcement of Hazlett’s latest album last night you said you missed me, due for release September 12th. Throughout the summer, Hazlett will be playing several North American festivals including Outside Festival, Bourbon and Beyond, and All Things Go. He will also support fellow singer-songwriter Noah Kahan at his July 4th BST Hyde Park show.
