hemlocke springs Navigates the Reality of Human Connection in "enknee1"

Rising art pop star hemlocke springs has given us another taste of her forthcoming debut EP with her latest single, “enknee1.” The cheekily titled cinematic track, produced by frequent collaborator BURNS, champions the vulnerability of seeking connection in a lonely world. A delicate outcry straight from springs' open heart, we’re shown yet another alluring side of her unique artistry and personality.

In a haze of micro-electronic beats and dreamy synths, “enknee1” takes listeners through the universal journey of yearning for love and the devastating blow of rejection. As she navigates the reality of human connection, springs realizes she still carries unrealistic expectations of love from childhood. In spite of her nativity, the twinkling chorus asks the simple, yet loaded question... is there anyone out there to love? The lyrics are honest and thought-provoking, a quest to understand others in order to understand herself as she sings, “I’ve learnt that people aren’t puzzles (No!), but they puzzle me.”

From the sonic landscape to the visuals, and especially the odd spelling of song titles, springs’ individuality shines through with natural ease. The explosive bridge of “enknee1” is a prime example, as it elevates the track with a dramatic shift in pace and the rising star's passionate vocal delivery. The bridge disperses into a groovy electronic pop moment that carries the song into a whimsical finish, but not without a final burst of energy to drive home the intensity of her emotions.

As listeners eagerly anticipate the release of springs' debut EP going...going...GONE! EP, set to release September 29, the latest release is providing us another look into her lyrical and sonic range. “enknee1” is an ode to longing and the exchange of emotion, making it the perfect backdrop for a cathartic sing-along.
