Johnny Utah Yearns for More Than a Booty Call in "4Tounce"

When just the name of a song is a play on words, you're bound to click and listen. And if the artist is Johnny Utah, well, you're bound to be happy you did. "4Tounce" is the latest release from the Philly wonder-kid before he embarks on a mini-tour that will see him playing headlining shows in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Granted anyone with tickets is in for a show, but let's talk "4Tounce."

Utah's done some sonic exploration with this one. It's slightly more right of center than his usual left of center leanings. Sure it's warped and distorted, but it shows us another side of Utah. He's multidimensional. He can be the groovy infatuated artist you find in "Honeypie" or the indie rocker who binged every The Strokes album ever in "Crazy For Your Love." But in "4Tounce," Utah takes on yet another micro persona.

He's a melodic man in love. It's the most straightforward of all of his songs. Somehow landing between early '00s pop cadences and surf rock twang guitar riffs, Utah creates a comfortable nostalgia for a theme so modern. And that's what make's Utah's music so great. He keeps us guessing, we never know what to expect.

One thing's for sure, Utah's over the booty call. Lyrically, the whole song ideals with Utah wanting more than just some random late-night action. He's dying to be seen with his lover in the day singing,

"1:07 am text that's booty calling me.
I don't want your late night love
I'm staying at your place.
I just want to be the one that you want in the day."
