Lauren Sanderson Gifts The Perfect Sapphic Anthem Of The Summer: "FREAK / PINTEREST"

LET'S GO, LESBIANS! Alt-pop rock creative genius and self-proclaimed "freak" Lauren Sanderson is back with her latest single, "FREAK / PINTEREST." The single, produced by Aidan Hogg and co-written with Jesse Thomas, is three songs in one, best described as the emotional roller coaster of having a hyper-fixation crush. Starting off as a high-energy alt-pop track that enters the world of "Bad Guy" by Billie Eilish and ends with a vulnerable, SZA-like energy, the track is a roller coaster ride from start to finish.

On part one of the multi-layered single, Sanderson channels her inner freak with the lyrics, "Step on me, make me weak, be a slut, take it off," amid layers of buzzing, heart-racing guitar riffs, thrumming bass, and crashing percussion. Suddenly, the track switches gears, pivoting to breathy vocals and steamy sonics with the artist confidently crooning the blush-inducing line, "Your girlfriend has me on her Pinterest 'cause I think she likes me more." This section is probably our favorite and sets us up for the grand finale!

The grand finale is ushered in with birds chirping and the soft strum of a guitar, giving listeners a glimpse into the softer side of our favorite freak. She sings over the stripped production, "I said I was a freak, I was lying. Happy all day now, I can't stop crying," perfectly closing out the journey of the chameleonic nature of the track. "LIFE'S TOO SHORT TO BE ONE-DIMENSIONAL. DON'T MAKE YOURSELF SMALL. BE EVERYTHING," shared the artist about the enthralling single.

This could be considered fighting words, but Lauren Sanderson is THE queer icon of the future, making music that gives people a place to feel accepted no matter what. The new track(s) follows the release of her last single, "THEY WONT LIKE THIS," making it the first new music to be released from her highly anticipated forthcoming album and coming out, see what we did there, just in time for pride month and is supported by twelve headlining pride shows nationwide.
