OnesToWatch are gearing up for their second year at Øya Festival, and the lineup is one you cannot miss. With rising stars like Geese alongside icons such as The Cure and punk favorites Amyl and the Sniffers, there is something for everyone. But festivals like Øya are also the perfect chance for international visitors to discover new local talent. Here are OTW’s top five Norwegian artists to catch this year.

Anakin Justin

Taking over the Hagen stage on day one, Trondheim artist Anakin Justin is one not to miss. At just 21 years old, he has quickly become one of the most exciting emerging names in Norway’s hip-hop scene, building a reputation through support slots for artists like Linni and Jaa9. Before heading to Øya, make sure to check out “badshit”.

Hannah Storm

Another artist making waves is Hannah Storm. Fresh off the release of her debut album It Will Never Be the Right Time, she has already shared stages with artists like AURORA and is quickly building an international audience. Following a recent trip to Argentina that saw her featured by Billboard Latin America, Hannah Storm is proving she is an artist on the rise and one to catch at this year’s festival.

TOMORA

Tomora is one of the most exciting acts on this year’s lineup. The electronic duo brings together Tom Rowlands of The Chemical Brothers and Norwegian alt-pop star AURORA. After generating huge buzz when they appeared on major festival lineups anonymously before revealing their identities, the pair released their debut album Come Closer. If you catch their set, be prepared for immersive electronic sounds and one of the most unique sets of the weekend.

Dagny

Since breaking through with “Backbeat” in 2015, Dagny has become one of Scandinavia’s biggest pop exports, racking up more than a billion streams and taking over their radio with her music. Known for her infectious energy on stage and feel-good music, Dagny is no stranger to the Øya stage and has delivered many memorable performances. This year she returns to headline Saturday night, and it’s set to be a big moment for Øya and for Dagny.

Ary

And finally, ARY. The Oslo-based artist, songwriter and producer has carved out her own lane in Scandinavian alt-pop with her blend of emotional songwriting and electronic production. Her acclaimed debut album For Evig established her as one of Norway’s most exciting voices, and with a second album on the way, Øya audiences will be among the first to hear what comes next.
