Punk Meets Alt-Pop Meets Metal Guitar Riffs in Noshows' Double Single [Q&A]

Brash, loud and specifically the energy we needed right now, Noshows' latest singles "FOMO" & "Last Resort" deliver in a big way. The NYC-based artist has been churning out tunes for minute now, but currently he’s gifting us sonic import of witty lyrics and life experiences that begged us to dive in. He generously gave us his time to dig into the latest singles, his love life, sobriety & more:
OnesToWatch: Who is Noshows?
Noshows: Noshows is a genre-defying indie project that’s been building for years. It’s always been my way of channeling whatever I’m going through—anxiety, addiction, growth, and everything in between. The music lives in that space between darkness and hope, balancing struggle with empowerment. But at the end of the day, it’s still meant to feel alive—something you can blast in your headphones and something that hits even harder in a sweaty, high-energy live show.
Can we not see you live? What’s the name origin story?
Yeah, you can still see us live—we show up for that! The name started as this rebellious, punk high school mentality—acting like you didn’t care, being “too cool” to show up. But as I got older, the meaning flipped. Now it feels like a reminder of who I used to be, and what I’ve worked my way out of. Noshows is where I put all the stuff people don’t expect at first glance—the darker thoughts, the anxiety, the cravings, the emotions you usually keep hidden. Ironically, Noshows is probably the most consistent thing I’ve ever committed too.
Do you feel fomo a lot?
I definitely felt FOMO a lot in the beginning of my recovery. I’m two years sober now, and over time it’s calmed down—but it still comes in waves. I think once you’ve had a taste of chaos and those “wild” highs, a part of you will always romanticize it a little. But I’ve learned to take that feeling with a grain of salt, because those thrills almost always come with a price.
Other than the obvious what is "Fomo" all about?
“FOMO” is a song I wrote early in my recovery, when I was still adjusting to sobriety and everything that came with it. I was suddenly dealing with this constant feeling that I was missing out—especially on weekends. Before I got sober, going out and partying wasn’t just something I did… it was basically part of my identity. It was my social life, my routine, my whole sense of belonging. So when that disappeared, I had all this nervous energy—like I was watching the world keep moving without me, like I was fading out of it. That’s why the song feels so fast and desperate. It’s basically the sound of me feeling like a train was flying by and I was about to miss it forever. It felt like everyone else was living, and I was stuck watching through the window.
Any collaborators? Who produced the single?
FOMO was co-written and co-produced by two-time Grammy winning songwriter and producer, Marc Swersky.
Happy Valentines day is over, or waiting for the next one?
I’m into it. I’ll never complain about a holiday that’s basically just “be nice to people and eat good food.” It was fun celebrating with my girlfriend and my family, so yeah—I’m already looking forward to the next one. Love in all forms is always worth celebrating.
Besides this excellent single what else should we be on the lookout for?
There’s a lot more music coming very soon, so this single is really just the beginning. And we’ve got some shows coming up too—February 26th in Philadelphia at Underground Arts, opening for Brass Against, and March 6th in Hudson, New York at Park Theater. If you want to experience Noshows the way it’s meant to be experienced, you’ve gotta catch a live show.
What’s inspiring you right now outside of music?
Honestly, I’ve been pulling a lot of inspiration from my surroundings lately. I've kept active by snowboarding when possible. I’m not great at sitting still, especially in the winter, so being out on the slopes keeps my head clear. I’ve also been really into audiobooks and documentaries—especially anything about artists I love. I’m kind of a nerd when it comes to that stuff, but it always sparks ideas and keeps me motivated.
Take us on a date: where do we go?
What do we do? Easy. We’re going to a live show—some underground band we both love, something loud and sweaty and a little chaotic. After that, we’re grabbing a late-night snack… like the kind of food that tastes better at 1AM than it ever would during the day. I like to keep it simple.
Musically who is new but making all the right moves? Who are your current OnesToWatch?
I’ve really been loving all of Magdalena Bay’s new material I think that they’re making some of the most mind-blowing psych pop right now and I can’t wait to hear more. Also, I know it’s not the hottest take, but Geese is crushing it. It’s nice to see a New York rock band making noise again—I feel like that lane’s been weirdly quiet. And Turnstile has been on repeat for me. They’re one of the few bands that can hit you with hardcore energy and still write hooks that get stuck in your head for days.
