Quarters Delivers Stellar Double Single With "HEADLIGHT" and "PERFECT WORD"

Beloved NYC trio Quarters deliver a double whammy with a stellar two-track single pack, “HEADLIGHT” and “PERFECT WORD.” The twin singles continue Quarters’ momentum, evolving into a full-scale rock act, connecting with their roots and demanding your attention.

Tasteful guitar riffs open up the world of the first track “PERFECT WORD.” There’s a restrained intensity seeping through the verses that explore the cost of precision and honesty to a raw and very vulnerable level. Lead singer Ben Roter’s clean vocal delivery admits to the listener, “I’ve been seeking out the perfect word/ And every time it just breaks apart,” letting the atmosphere and weight coexist without resolution.

Meanwhile, “HEADLIGHT” sees the group dive headfirst into gritty, underground rock sonics. Distorted, heavily processed guitars and vocals push and pull against each other, creating a stupefyingly chaotic soundscape. On the chorus, Roter declares, “Flipping through the headlights, the headlights,” before the second verse kicks in with, “Slackjaw in the summertime / Goldmine on my hand,” building a sense of controlled chaos that propels the band’s evolution.

Guitarist Jasper Harris shared in a statement, “Even though this album-making process has been two years long, ‘HEADLIGHT’ came together very quickly and recently. Our tour came to an end, and we just felt like there was more gas in the tank to write with - so that is exactly what we did. It was fun to create something raw, and not worry so much about over-editing it. It was the perfect way to end the writing cycle.”

Roter added, “At its core, the song is about watching someone you love drift where you can’t go…... and wrestling with the guilt of not following them.”

The band is set to embark on their North American Headline Tour with support from other rising stars like Porch Light, Charlie Burg, Telescreens, and more, including two consecutive nights at NYC’s iconic Irving Plaza, which is set to be their biggest stage to date.
