Shan's "Palomino" Is an R&B Time Machine [Premiere]

For his debut single, LA-based singer-songwriter Shan (pronounced Shaun) is trying to restore that old feeling. Growing up in NYC and religiously listening to Hot 97 and 107.5 WBLS, he, like most of us, developed a love for music via the late 90s/early 2000s golden era of hip-hop and R&B. Not a typical music fan, Shan also studied classical music and theory from his childhood until he was 18 at the Manhattan School of Music which eventually led him to earning a scholarship for music performance at NYU.

It was during this time at NYU that he worked at his family's Thai restaurant when he wasn't studying. This restaurant would also serve as his makeshift studio after hours where he would continue to hone his craft and find his sound. In 2016, Shan started the next chapter in his musical career by moving to Los Angeles. Since then, he's been in studio sessions with some of the most creative producers in music right now. Outside of collaborations, he's been putting together his debut EP Palomino which will be released via AWAL in December.

"Palomino" is structured like an early 2000s R&B song with modern elements. From the first guitar lick, the song transports you to the passenger seat of a Palomino cruising down the PCH at sunset. Listen to "Palomino" below and stay tuned for more from Shan in the near future.
