The Hellp Set Out on Their Own With "Caustic"

Cult indie icons The Hellp, comprised of Noah Dillion and Chandler Ransom Lucy, are back and ready to party with the release of their highly-anticipated new single, "Caustic." The single, which comes ahead of a national tour this fall, is a refreshing and vibrant effort that captures the rush of youth and the nostalgia of setting off on your own for the first time, complete with chaotic bubblegum pop-infused production.

"Caustic" opens with an electrifying collection of warped synths and poppy drum machine percussion. Amid the racing beats, Dillion sings, "The problem is I could never remember / Like how your skeleton looked among the grass / The problem is I could never find a better way / Light takes shape out across a faded grey." The post-pop punk, indie sleaze-esque sonics ooze nostalgia and futuristic elements, creating a reflective, dance-inducing, and uniquely The Hellp sonic experience.

The accompanying music video, directed by Dillion, is a nostalgic visual that weaves found footage filmed on the last day of school at California's Calabasas High School in 2008. The footage explores that particularly special time in a young person's life by incorporating archival footage of the LA student's last day with the band's personal recordings. Previously unseen clips of the duo capture the earliest days of the Los Angeles band's career, making their evolution and growth all the more gratifying to see in the present day.

The new single follows the success of the band's last release, "Colorado." The artists shared in a statement that the track is "a song about going home." It is a testament to their passionate storytelling within the electroclash genre, exuding a fuzzy warmth and embracing their tongue-in-cheek indie sleaze aesthetic.
