Setlist.Fm's weekly "Who Is" series is an immersive way to expose readers to up-and-coming indie acts that should be on your radar; written by music fans for music fans. Each week we feature an artist and/or band that's making waves in the music world. The "Who Is" pieces are a tell-all of the artist, showcasing everything from music and performance style, to influences and tour dates. This week we'd like you to put Nasty Cherry  on your radar - the brainchild of Charli XCX.

Nasty Cherry is the newest, bad-ass girl group hailing from Los Angeles and the UK. Born seemingly overnight via Instagram, the elusive girl-group's first introduction to the world carried all the glitz and glam of Hollywood and New York City all at once. Each member of the four-piece came from a creative background, which sparked pop-star Charli XCX's interest and ultimately convinced her to bring the crew together and sign them to her label, Vroom Vroom Recordings.

The band is made-up of Kitten's Chloe Chaidez, Star Wars set decorator Georgia Somary, Charli XCX drummer Deborah Knox-Hewson, and model Gabbriette Bechtel. They released their only debut single so far, "Win," on March 11. The single further alludes to the fact that the girls are turning “bitch” into an actual genre, and we love it.

Singer Betchel’s matter-of-fact vocals establish her simultaneous over-it and assertive lyrics in a world where slow burning pop-rock anthems dominate. The track was co-written with Charli and Justin Raisen (Sky Ferreira, Angel Olsen) – that’s how you know they’re not beating around the bush. They just released the music video for "Win," which you can watch below:

The girls performed their very first show ever on March 15  at the Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles. This was just their first of many "nasty" shows to come, so make sure to keep an eye on Charli XCX's favorite new band!
