lovelytheband is making a killing from transforming difficult-to-grasp feelings and anxieties into alternative pop anthems. The Los Angeles-based trio first made a massive splash with their breakout debut single "broken," which has racked up over 77-million plays on Spotify alone and was the longest-running number one track on alternative radio. Today, the alternative pop purveyors, return with a music video for what is poised to be their next big hit.

"maybe, i'm afraid," which is taken from lovelytheband's impressive debut album finding it hard to smile, is an emotional tour de force. The music video follows a recent exciting announcement that the trio would be embarking on a vast North American tour, with support from flora cash and Jagwar Twin and presented by us here at Ones To Watch.

Directed by Stefano Bertelli, the video for "maybe, i'm afraid" is a sight to behold. Comprised completely of animated cardboard cutouts, it has a unique visual style that is perfectly at home alongside lovelytheband's distinctive emotive work. Both sonically and visually explosive, with the band's fear of falling for someone expressed through a thunderous stream-of-conscious chorus, "maybe, i'm afraid" is yet another testament to what the band clearly does so well. This trio is capturing real vulnerability and translating it into irrefutably anthemic song.
