2020 has been good to Octavian, SAINt JHN, and Gunna. In gearing up for his debut studio album, Octavian has already teased several singles, all featuring a star-studded cast of guest appearances. He's also worked with labelmates Take A Daytrip and French house duo The Blaze. SAINt JHN's hit single "Roses" is continuing to dominate the charts (with the help of TikTok and producer Imanbek), and Gunna released his long-awaited sophomore studio album WUNNA back in May. That's why it makes complete sense for the three hitmakers to put their talents together on a track aptly titled "Famous."
Octavian's latest single is an infectious dancehall earworm featuring fellow rappers Gunna and SAINt JHN. The JAE5-produced track leads with brisk percussion, marching to the beat of a packed dancefloor. On "Famous," Octavian ruminates on the pitfalls of success, singing, "I don't wanna say you switched up / You broke my heart, boy, how you gonna fix that?" in the chorus.
Gunna comes in swinging in the first guest verse, revelling in the glitz and glamour of fame. With lines about "fucking on tour" and being on the cover of Forbes, the Young Stoner Life rapper makes it abundantly clear that Octavian's qualms about fame are the furthest thing from his mind. SAINt JHN lends his nonchalant vocals to the second guest verse, showing off the same melodic prowess that lit up previous hits like "Trap" and "Roses."
Speaking further on his new single in a press statement, Octavian explained, "The concept of 'Fame' should be connected to the celebration of one's achievements, unfortunately nowadays it is the glamorisation of unthought-about entertainment."
