Omar Apollo's  "Friends" Inspire a Tenderhearted Ballad Ahead of Forthcoming EP

Omar Apollo has been making Hobart, Indiana, proud since he released his first single "Ugotme" in 2017, and the praise never ends for this first-generation Mexican-American singer. Now, he's following up his debut album Stereo (LP 2018) with a fantastic new EP, Friends, which is set for release on April 10. This forthcoming project showcases Apollo's unique ability to effortlessly channel contrasting elements of jazz, R&B, funk, alternative, soul, and pop music to generate one distinct sound. Ahead of Friends, Apollo is treating us to a generous preview with the lovely acoustic stylings of the phenomenal title track.

"Friends" reveals the softer half of Apollo as he experiments with slower tempos and a more melancholic message. This tenderhearted ballad focuses on Apollo's cumbersome experience with unrequited love as he sings sweet melodies above the charming strumming of his acoustic guitar. Rather than solely blaming the other person, Apollo encompasses maturity as he takes some responsibility for his agony and distress.
