Indie darling Holly Humberstone has blessed our ears with another flawless single, "Into Your Room," ahead of her highly anticipated debut album, Paint My Bedroom Black, set to release October 13. The track, which Humberstone shared in a press statement, was written in a day and captures complex emotions like guilt and realizing you've been absent in a relationship.

The track opens with a dark and summery collection of synths and beats. Humberstone's sultry yet pleading vocals declare her lover as her "northern star" and apologizes for how she's hurt them, describing how the guilt wears heavy on her heart, crushing her. With swirling, retro-inspired instrumentation that feels like the sonic equivalent of a warm, late-night drive, and sleek production at her back, she suggests, "Maybe, take me into your room / Without you, my soul is eternally doomed." She bares her soul, singing, "You're the center of this universe / My sorry ass revolves around you / No, I can't do without you."

The second half of the track sees Humberstone continue her quest to make amends with her partner. In classic rom-com fashion, she admits to throwing stones at their window, begging them not to leave her standing in the rain with a boombox and her heart ripped straight from her rib cage. The single's bridge utilizes layers of slick guitar riffs, twinkling soundscapes, and echoing harmonics to add texture to the lush track before Humberstone sings a stripped-down final chorus with only the aid of lilting piano keys at her side.

"Into Your Room" follows the release of Humberstone's recent track "Superbloodmoon." Featuring breakout singer and songwriter d4vd, the duo recorded the forlorn tracks in London, with the pair weaving a tale of two people staring at the extraordinary lunar eclipse from opposite sides of the world.
