Soft Loft’s New Single “Wednesdays” Celebrates Self Reliance

Self care and taking time for yourself is easier said than done, but it’s one of the most important things one can do. Whether it’s buying yourself a sweet treat, calling a friend, or rewatching your favorite movie, it always leaves you feeling refreshed and ready to take on life’s challenges. Switzerland based band Soft Loft, is all too aware of the importance of self care and taking care of your mental health and is literally singing its praises on their new single “Wednesdays.”

Speaking on the single, singer and lyricist Jorina Stamm shared, “'Wednesdays" is about mental health and the small, everyday rituals we lean on to keep going - taking walks, eating better, buying yourself flowers, or simply telling yourself that today might be okay. At its core, the song reflects on learning to rely on yourself. It’s about taking responsibility for your own well-being, making changes when you need to, and slowly finding a sense of peace without depending on others for validation or happiness. There’s a tension between isolation and comfort, between feeling unseen and learning how to sit with yourself and be okay there. The title is a playful nod to the movie 'Mean Girls' and its iconic line, 'On Wednesdays we wear pink' and ‘you can’t sit with us.' In contrast to the pressure of fitting in and following unspoken rules,'Wednesdays' embraces the idea of stepping away, of choosing yourself, even if it means sitting alone, and feeling real good about it.

The lyrics perfectly reflect Stamm’s ideas as she sings “It’s like making jokes and no one laughs / I keep breaking bones and no one’s sad / I sit by myself but I’m oh so good,” in the chorus. Accompanying the lyrics is a twinkly, upbeat instrumentation full of acoustic guitars and drums. The two pieces of the song weave together seamlessly to create an optimistic anthem of self love, while still acknowledging the strength it takes to put yourself first.

“Wednesdays” is on the track list of Soft Loft’s upcoming sophomore album, Throw The Dice, set for release on September 4th.
