Master Peace Charms the Haters With Latest Single "ONE of ONE"

They say when you date someone, you date their friends, too. Indie-pop artist Master Peace begs to differ — just listen to his latest single “ONE of ONE.”

With a sexy beat and a chorus you’ll be singing along to after just one listen, “ONE of ONE” is a bouncing, brash anthem for anyone who’s realized their significant other’s friends aren’t their biggest fans. However, Master Peace isn’t letting the haters get to him.

“Her friends don’t like me and I don’t mind,” he cheerfully sings on the chorus. “She got a face card on her that I’ll never decline.”

Speaking to OnesToWatch, Master Peace shared that “ONE of ONE” was inspired by a real-life relationship.

“It was made about someone I was dating at the time and I was so excited/happy to be with her despite what the outside noise made of it,” he said. “At the time it felt like I had won the lottery and when you are in love or you meet someone new, [those] exciting butterflies always feel better [than] anything at the beginning stages of a relationship.”

Drawing on his personal life is part of Master Peace’s songwriting process, where he looks at the “sitcom of ups and downs” of his life.

“When I write, depending on what era my life sits in [at] that moment, I will dig into the personal experience that I feel in that moment and then find a really emotional chord that has elements of melancholy and pop,” he said.

The single is part of Master Peace’s upcoming sophomore album, if i don’t love you, who will?, which the artist described as feeling “more like the old MP projects before my debut album.”

“It’s a revisit to the melancholy side of the MP projects [as] a whole and I think people will resonate to this,” he explained, pointing to its “straight to the point” vibe with “no lyrical miracles.”

Master Peace added, “[The album is] very personal so if you are going through a break up this may be your cup of tea.”

if i don’t love you, who will? drops October 2.
