LA-based indie-pop princess Rosie Darling is embarking on a new era, starting with the cathartic single “This Is Me Letting You Go.” Produced by Doug Schadt (of Maggie Rogers and Ruth B. credits), the track puts Rosie’s poignant confessional lyricism on display as the young singer-songwriter reflects on the slow process of healing. It’s the first new single since her late 2023 debut album, Lanterns and leads into her forthcoming project in early 2025, which we cannot wait to hear more details about.

On the inspiration behind the track, Rosie says, "This song is the first real deep breath after a tough breakup when you can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. It is solely about you, and how you move through the grief that comes with ending a relationship, instead of focusing on the other person and their faults.” Because of this perspective, the track provides a unique take on the post-breakup experience.

Sonically, “This Is Me Letting You Go” channels the best of singer-songwriter pop, with a minimalism that spotlights the vulnerable lyricism. Over a delicate soundscape Rosie sings about a goodbye that focuses on inner healing, free from judgment based on the time it takes to fully move on. The memories being released are marked by a fluttering synth production element that is used throughout the track, echoing the overall sentiment in both lyrics and sonics. In this breakup song, there are no bad guys, just two people who ultimately didn’t work out. The track ends with Rosie singing the title, which feels like a real ending that she’s also finally believing in herself.

Rosie Darling’s first track of the year surely does not disappoint and gives fans a look into what’s next for this rising star. Her vulnerability is natural and real, with patience and acceptance of the reality of healing. We can’t wait to hear what's next from Rosie!
