Laufey (pronounced lāy-vāy) is bringing jazz to the front of mainstream music, and doing it flawlessly. The Los Angeles-based singer, composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist combines lyrics about modern topics like self-discovery with classic musicality not often found in the average Gen Zer’s playlist. Growing up in Reykjavik and Washington, D.C., Laufey played cello and piano from a young age and draws inspiration from the timeless Ella Fitzgerald. She released her debut single while studying at Berklee College of Music and the rest is history. Listen to her new album and collaboration with beabadoobee, out now.
